This morning I am tired, cranky and having "period problems".
This morning I eyed up all the donuts and danishes at the coffee shop.
This morning I did not cave in.
Today, I will stay on program.
This week I will be successful at the scale.

It just slipped out...
I was serving lunch and DJ was helping to put out the milk glasses and I asked him to go tell the little ones that lunch was ready.
He looked up at me and screamed,"ANDERSON, MADIGAN, LUNCH IS READY. GET YOUR LITTLE BUTTS UP HERE!"
I looked at DJ, not really amused, and it just slipped out, "DJ, I could have done that!"
"I know Mommy, I learned it from you!"

Long Day Lessons
Today has been a long day - literally, it has been a long day.
3:02 AM - Woke up
3:55 - Arrived at work
4:00 - 8:00 - Worked regular hours
8:30 - 11:30 - Played with Madigan, folded laundry, packed for all three kiddies, ran 3 errands with Madigan
11:40 - Met boys' bus
12:30 - 1:30 Hit McD's drive through for kiddies and drove to Kemptville
1:30 - 3:00 - Had a nice visit with my parents
3:00 - 4:00 - Hit the dollar store in Kemptville for party favours - BINGO! Lucked out and got everything I needed!
4:00 - 4:45 - Drove back to Ottawa
5:00 - 5:30 - Caught up on my blog reading and commenting
5:30 - 7:00 - Relaxed in a warm bath
7:00 - 8:30 - Wink, wink, nudge, nudge --- no kids at home, you can figure out how hubby and I spent our time!!!!! (blush, blush)
8:30 - 10:30 - Napped in the arms of my wonderful man
11:00 PM - Arrived at work to do an extra shift
11:00 PM - 1:30 AM - Monitored National news and completed assigned tasks as requested by the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada
2:00 AM - Arrived home
Now, I hope to sleep as I have my French course at 9AM for 3 LONG hours...
...did I mention it was a long day?
And worst of all - I keep thinking of food! I am so tired and all I want is to snack. Mindless snacking. But I am committed to my weight loss program. But I cannot stop thinking of food! Junk food, comfort food.
I am actually a bit depressed over all this craving sweets and junk food. I am scared that once I am transitioned back to food, I may fall into my old habits. That is not acceptable. I cannot go back to my old ways. I have learned coping strategies. I have worked hard to loose 42+ pounds. Why forfeit all that?
Some days I think I have come a long way in changing my way of thinking of food...and then I have a day like today.
While I am optimistic that I am learning and changing and committing to a healthy lifestyle moving forward - I have now realized food will always be an issue for me. And I will have to be strong, committed and secure in my decisions not to let food control me any more.
I did not break program - even though this has been a long day - and even though in the past I would have snacked on chocolate bars, chips, cola and other terrible food choices - I did not.
I learned an invaluable lesson during my long day.
Good Night! Sleep and Eat well my friends.

What a Stinky Day!
My stinky day in Numbers:
2 - Number of little boys who are toilet trained in our house hold
1 - Number of little girls still in diapers in our household
2 - Number of times said little girl leaked out of her diaper - including one huge explosion poo up her back - GROSS!
4 - Number of times Mommy asked 4 year old to go potty before bus arrives
1 - Number of times 4 year old pooped in his pants as the bus came into view down the street
6 - Number of minutes bus had to wait as 4 year old got cleaned up and changed
6 - Number of times Mommy reminded 3 year old to use potty throughout the day
5 - Number of times Mommy picked up a rice milk carton off the floor after 3 year old poured his own drink unassisted - Explains the exponential amount of pee
7 - Number of times 3 year old disappeared and changed clothes since he peed in them
2 - Number of times said 3 year old did NOT poop in the toilet
4 - Number of laundry loads Mommy did on the sanitize mode
What would you do????
A day like this STINKS...and it took all my energy and focus not to loose my cool. I tried my very best not to criticize the boys or get angry after each of the accidents. I only yelled once - and that was while a naked bum DJ ran to look out the window at the bus waiting for him...but man, how many toilet accidents can happen in one day.
My Tuesday was stinky...how was yours?
----Sorry if I do not read all your wonderful comments, but I have a huge pile of laundry to fold.

Early Identification Is Key
Early identification is always key. Once a problem has been identified it is much easier to deal with it in a prompt and effective way. This is especially true at school. Everyone hates labels, but once a teacher or school staff member identifies a trouble maker, immediate action should be taken to ensure the trouble maker is disciplined.
This afternoon will be DJ's second day of school...and already I have gotten a call from the office.
TROUBLE MAKER IDENTIFIED
Nope, it is not DJ, it is ME!
I broke the golden rule of busing yesterday afternoon. I waited for DJ at an "un-assigned bus stop". And boy, did I hear about it from the school secretary. (Did you know that there are 14 different forms and pieces of paperwork related to bus stops??)
You see, the bus picks DJ up at the corner of Epworth and Indian - a 3 minute walk from our house. He is the only child to get on the bus each afternoon at that stop. His route home is slightly different since all the big kids are on the bus. It does stop at the corner of Epworth and Indian, but the stop before that stop is at Canter and Suffolk. Now this stop is 3.5 minutes of a walk from our house -- but it has the WOW factor working for it. You see the stop is right at the driveway of the Mercer's house. What is so great about the Mercer Family? Well, they have 5 kids ranging in age from 2 to 14. Their driveway has become the kid drop-in of the street. Lots of toys, lots of fun, and Mrs. Mercer even brings out snacks. My boys love walking over and playing hockey, playing chase or just hanging out with the other kids - and I enjoy the chats I have with the mom. So, it only made sense for me to change DJ's stop.
So, I called the transportation office and spoke to a nice lady and informed her I would drop off at the first stop and pick up at the second stop. She informed me that was fine and to call the school before 3:30 tomorrow.
Before I had a chance to call this morning ( I was in the middle of play-school drop off for Anderson)my cell rings. It is the school office. I was informed that it is OK, but that I should have contacted the school. The safety of my child is in question here! I should have called in late August if I wanted changes...blah, blah, blah.
Now, I totally respect her position. And I was going to call after play-school drop off. I never meant to cause any problems. But as she went on and on about the work I have just caused her and how I should have called weeks ago...all I could think of is that little mark beside the Storrie name. Are we now identified as that problem family? Having grown up in a teacher-household I realize the importance and true value of the office staff. They are the glue that binds the school - always be on their good side.
Yeek - not a good start to the school year...hope DJ is not impacted by our tarnished name!
