45 out of the last 56 months!

Madigan at 2 months old breast feeding just a few hours after her surgery.
Anywhere and everywhere - on a boat/bus tour in August 2007.

Madigan is introduced to solids...she loved it!

Yummy first birthday cake times two!

July 2008 - sitting at the table eating macaroni

You can do it Madie...look at you... you're a big girl!
Eating food with a spoon all by yourself...no need for boobie my Darling...no need for boobie...please, for Mommy, for Mommy who for 45 months out of the last 56 months has had a baby or a machine gnawing on her boobies...please...no more boobie....only big girl food and drink from now on...and no boobie. OK????

I vowed that I would breast feed as long as possible. With DJ we had tons of issues, so I pumped. I pumped for 9 months and DJ had breast milk for the first 15 months of his life. Anderson breast fed like a champ, right form the beginning. At a year, he slowly started weaning himself and at about 15 months was practically done. Madigan is almost 18 months and she still loves to snuggle and breast feed - mainly before her nap or when she is upset.

I have always stated that I would not breast feed when the child could verbally ask to be breast fed. Well, for about a month now my baby-girl has been coming up to me and saying, "boobie peeze". But I keep letting her. My mother says it is because I do not want my baby to grow up and that I am encouraging it. She also says that it is more me than Madigan who wants to breast feed - especially since Madigan is our last child.

While I see nothing wrong about breast feeding as long as possible and I applaud mothers who continue into the toddler years...but my boobies are ready to become mine now...after 56 months, I want them back! No more boobie, peeze!

I agree that when a child can ask for a boobie then it is too old to eat from one.

Funny, my husband comes up and says the same to me that Madigan says to you...Boobie Peeze...:-)

I say do what makes you feel right, it's your choice and whatever that may it be, it will be right.

I stunk at b-feeding, so I applaud you girl!

Wow- good for you for breastfeeding 3 kids for that long! You definitely deserve a break and your body back...I always still felt a little bit pregnant the whole time I was breastfeeding. I'm glad did it, but was happy for it to be over too.

It is exhausting at times, isn't it? Here's hoping she REALLY likes holding that spoon! ;)

Good luck! With my daughter I just had to go cold turkey. She would have breastfed forever :)

Such cute pictures! Hopefully, if you are weaning, it will go well. Good luck to both of you!

I totally get where you're coming from. I was sooooooooo ready to be done but my babies had their own schedule so number 3 was finally weaned at almost 3 and #4 was over 2. Whew. it felt like a long haul BUT in the grand view of things it's not really all that long:)

I'm glad to be "me" again though lol. Good luck with the weaning. I was never good at saying no:) We finally went away for a week and there was just no milk when I came back....

She's beautiful. I love her name. I hope she sticks to big girl food for the sake of her boobies.

Teeheee... they are YOURS.

Do what you want to do and give yourself a great big pat on the back, momma.

Max would come up to me, looking at me with those big, sad eyes and say "Mom muk peese."
He was 2 1/2 when he was finally finished. He's our youngest, and I didn't want to give it up. Apparently, he didn't either. I don't regret nursing him as long as I did. I miss it. I miss the size of my chest also.

I don't blame you for wanting to be done... or for hanging onto it for a bit! I think each of mine breastfed longer than the one before.
Cute photos, btw!

I breast fed both of kids for about 11 months. I weaned them when they drew blood. Little baby teeth are sharp!

It's probably time for her to give you up. Love the pixes, though!

That's an amazing accomplishment. I BF Graham for 7 months but if I had another child I woudl definitely try and do it longer...

There is something to be said for reclaiming the 'girls.' It was always bittersweet for me, so I would temper the 'bitter' by going bra shopping. It helped.

ha ha ha..... too funny.

Did I tell you that I had to wrench my first one away at 2 1/2 years old (and I was 5 months preggers with my second)? And my second one? A "short" 2 years. Nice to know I (especially a certain part on me) was really loved. Plus it was the only time my kiddies slowed down enough so that I could hold them for a long snuggle.

And the good news.......
They say that breast fed kiddies (especially ones past the first 18 months or so) are smarter, and both my kids are getting top marks. I attribute it ALL TO ME. LOL

WIshing you and "the girls" good luck. I think it's wonderfully unselfish that you have "shared" for so long.

Okay. I've taken up enough of your blog. Now I should probably go and haunt mine for a while.
